Help children discover that 2D shapes really are everywhere!
2D Shapes All Around Us is a visual resource designed to support children in recognising 2D shapes and noticing them in the world around them. The resource features a collection of familiar objects and images with a clear shape, providing opportunities for children to identify, name and talk about 2D shapes.
Use the resource to:
- Introduce or reinforce 2D shapes.
- Develop shape recognition and mathematical vocabulary.
- Encourage children to spot 2D shapes in their environment.
- Support conversations about the features of 2D shapes
- Inspire children to find and photograph, draw or collect their own examples of 2D shapes
The resource works well for adult-led maths sessions, small-group activities, shape hunts, classroom displays and continuous provision.
